About City Centre

The heart of Mississauga has experienced a major boom in the last 20 years. The development was once little more than a junction onto the highway, but that’s changed dramatically. Now, this cosmopolitan centre has a truly urban feel.

As the business epicentre of Mississauga, the area is home to a growing number of companies and headquarters. As a result, there are more residents than ever flooding into surrounding condos developments. There’s also no shortage of residential cutting-edge architecture here (like the curvy and iconic Absolute Towers).

Who Lives Here

The area attracts a variety of professional singles and couples, many of whom grew up in Mississauga and can’t yet afford house. It’s also home to a number of down-sizers with ties to the community.

It’s also worth noting that City Centre’s population is hugely diverse. Here you’ll find many second generation and new Canadians, making for a patchwork of different cultures. Along with homeowners, you’ll find many renters in the area.

What's Great About It?

The City of Mississauga has put a lot of effort into its revitalization efforts in City Centre. Local services, transit, and amenities will only continue to improve in the years ahead. Residents already enjoy the benefits of being close to an abundance of exciting local amenities.

Highlights include the Art Gallery of Mississauga (a creative’s dream), Square One (widely considered the GTA’s best mall), and Celebration Square (which hosts markets, concerts, festivals, and skating enthusiasts who use its ice rink). The Living Arts Centre (a nonprofit) has a beautiful facility downtown, including theatres, studios, a restaurant, and more.

Lastly, getting around from City Centre is a breeze, thanks to its location and proximity to transit options.

Schools

Central Mississauga isn’t known for its schools, but that’s not a concern for many of the young professionals who call the area home. That said, there are some good options nearby, such as John Cabot Secondary School and Fairview Public School.
